I’ve never seen a happy billionaire.
I’ve seen many happy millionaires,
But not a single happy billionaire.
Once you get that far down,
Engulfed in a need for greed,
You will never feel happiness.
You may enjoy your mansions,
Your exotic vacations,
Your lavish yachts,
Your trophy spouses,
But you will never be happy.
You will always need external stimuli,
Internal essences will never be enough.
More
More
More
You will keep exploiting,
Never halt the machine,
Must hoard resources.
Money:
An economic resource.
Money:
You worship it.
More than Christians pray to their God,
More than Buddhists strive to enlighten.
You identify with it so strongly —
Would you even be you without it?
If money controls everything you do,
You’ll never be free from its influence.
Your next life will be more difficult,
Karma hits harder than imaginable.
If you believe billionaires are happy,
I invite you to take a closer look.
Humans can always recognize it,
The deadness behind their eyes,
All you have to do is pay attention.
[Author’s Note: There is an astronomical difference between a millionaire and a billionaire. In my opinion, there are morally-sound ways a person can become a millionaire. On the other hand, it is not possible to ethically become a billionaire. Even if a billionaire made their fortune without exploiting impoverished countries, illegally hiding assets, or legally paying off politicians, they still would not be ethical. The sheer action of hoarding an economic resource that was created for a specific purpose in a mixed (relatively free) market is unethical. And no, their charity (for tax breaks) does not mean anything.
I believe unethical actions only lead to misery. Hence, billionaires will never be happy.]
